What this site collects

Nothing. There is no analytics script, no cookie, no font loaded from a third party, no embedded video and no advertising. The pages are static HTML with one local stylesheet and one optional local script. If the script fails to load, the pages still read and the links still work.

What that means in practice

ItemPresentConsequence
CookiesNoneNo consent banner is needed because there is nothing to consent to
AnalyticsNoneThe manual cannot see which pages are read
Third-party requestsNoneNo visitor address is shared with anyone
Server logsDepends on the hostThe host records requests; that is the host's policy, not this manual's

The absence of analytics is a real cost. The manual cannot know which pages are read or where readers stop, so pages are improved from corrections and from the sources rather than from behaviour. That trade is made deliberately: a measurement manual that tracked its readers would have to explain why.

Outbound links

Every outbound link points at a specific document and opens in the same tab. No link carries a tracking parameter, because the manual does not generate any. Where a destination site sets its own cookies, that is between the reader and that site.

This page is deliberately one screen. A privacy page that needs scrolling is usually describing something it would rather not summarise.

Where the numbers come from

  1. S1Cost Benefit, Living Snow Fences, Minnesota Department of Transportationsupports the cost-benefit framing the manual applies to its own choices
  2. S2Large Round Bale Storage Costs (Focus on Forage), University of Wisconsin-Madisonsupports the storage-cost framing the manual uses instead of advertising revenue
  3. S3How Do the New Snow Fences Work?, Road Weather Management Technical Brief, Federal Highway Administrationsupports the drift behaviour the manual cites rather than measures itself

One link, one document. No home pages, no search results, no bare domains.
